Vision, Mission & Values

The Rural Iowa Independent Telephone Association was organized in 1966 to represent the small telephone companies throughout Iowa. Telecommunications has changed dramatically over the years, but our purpose continues to be that of representing the interests of the independent, locally owned telecommunication service providers.

Vision Statement
We are in the business of keeping Iowa’s rural communities connected to the world.

Mission Statement
To foster the success of Iowa’s community based communication service providers through regulatory/legislative advocacy, facilitating member access to knowledge and resources and promoting the industry.

Core Values

• We are a grassroots organization that represents the interests of rural, community based communication service providers.
• Decisions and policies are made in a transparent and open process for the benefit of our members.
• We treat everyone with respect and honesty, and welcome the diversity of opinion in a constructive, positive environment.
• We are good stewards of the resources entrusted to us by our members.
• We display courage to best represent our members’ interests.
