RIITA Membership
As defined by the RIITA Bylaws, members within RIITA are by company and consist of two classes of members - active and associate members.
Active Members
To be eligible as an Active Member, the company may be a mutual telephone company in which at least fifty percent of the users are owners, cooperative telephone corporations or associations, and telephone companies having less than fifteen thousand customers and less than fifteen thousand access lines which serve rural Iowa and are incumbent local exchange carriers as defined in the 1996 Telecommunications Act.

Associate Members
Eligibility as an Associate Member includes any individual, firm, or organization in the following classifications which does business with independent telephone companies: manufacturing companies, sales organizations, publishers of telephone trade magazines and of telephone directories, engineering, advertising, accounting and managerial organizations, and telecommunication companies providing communication services to the public which are not eligible for active membership.
