RIITA Files Comments with FCC on USF Reform
RIITA filed comments today with the Federal Communications Commission relating to three elements of USF reform – reverse auctions, identical support rule and recommendations on USF reform. RIITA has long commented on these and various manifestations of ideas circulating around USF reform. We have long advocated for eliminating the identical support rule; we oppose reverse auctions as it jeopardizes actual service and service quality in high cost rural areas; and we express concern over establishing three funds and feel that by eliminating the identical support rule, it will go a long way in helping solve the tremendous growth experienced in the USF.

IUB Releases Industry Reports
The Iowa Utility Board released recently two reports - the “2007 Telecommunications Market Monitoring Survey for Local Voice Services in Iowa” and “Assessing High-Speed Internet Technologies: Sixth Assessment.“ Information was collected as of June 30, 2007 that serves as the basis for the reports. The reports can be accessed at www.state.ia.us/iub/.
